My father was a Yorkshireman from a small village called Yeadon. After immigrating to Aotearoa at the age of 17 he met a beautiful Maori woman, my mum.
I am the youngest of four and was always the kid painting, drawing, building small structures from sticks, recycling rubbish into what I thought were beautiful sculptures. I started carving at an early age by using my dads tool I 'found'in his work shed. Through self exploration my skills developed into the various forms that I practice today; carving, painting, weaving, and lastly Tamoko - tattooing.
My inspiration comes from my Maori heritage, rich in mythology, cosmology and a spiritualty that is still very much alive today.
