Great Wall of China Marathon
So a year ago I decided to do something off the wall and do one of the hardest marathons in the world...They weren't joking !!!... One years training of hills, stairs, long roads to nowhere, 3am starts in the dark , and I still didn't reach the I love running stage !...The last 12weeks I had two badly injured knees but decided well I just need to work through the pain and continue...
I was very honored to be asked to open this epic event with a Maori karanga..it was electrifying and to be honest I was really bloody nervous to be given the job for our NZ team...
Now the run...The wall is just so overwhelming in its beauty and size I can't describe the emotions that were running through my head...the heat, elevation and magnitude of this marathon was by far the hardest physical and mentally tough event I have ever done...its amazing what you can push your body to do...giving up was never an option although at times the pain was consuming and the head games within myself were definatley challenging !
So where to from here ??...hmmmm New York 2019 and then back to China 2020 😁 ....Maybe I might like running by then...otherwise I will just stick to being an ocean swimmer !! I love the water 😍
